Details

The BSc in Audiology at UCT is a four-year professional degree that trains graduates to assess, diagnose, and manage hearing and balance disorders across the lifespan. South Africa carries a disproportionately high burden of hearing loss due to noise exposure in its mining and manufacturing sectors, high rates of otitis media in children, and limited access to hearing healthcare in rural communities — making audiologists critically important healthcare providers. Students train at hospitals, schools for the deaf, noise-exposed industries, and community settings, and benefit from UCT's research excellence in auditory neuroscience and global hearing health. After one year of community service, graduates register with the HPCSA. Note: APS shown is the NSC sub-minimum; UCT's full FPS for Health Sciences includes NBT scores.
