The Bachelor of Health Sciences in Emergency Medical Care and Rescue at DUT trains qualified paramedics registered with the Professional Board for Emergency Care Practitioners of the HPCSA. The four-year programme is intensive, running outside normal academic terms to include night shifts and clinical rotations in hospitals, clinics, and private emergency services. Graduates are skilled in advanced life support, rescue, and pre-hospital care — professions with strong employment prospects in both private emergency services and public sector roles across KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa.
