The Bachelor of Human Settlement Development at Nelson Mandela University is a four-year professional degree designed to produce practitioners who can plan, manage, and implement sustainable human settlements in South Africa. Students study urban planning, housing policy, infrastructure development, land reform, and community participation, with specific reference to South Africa's housing backlog and its constitutional obligation to provide adequate housing.
