The BSc in Biodiversity and Ecology at Stellenbosch University explores the extraordinary diversity of life and the ecological processes that sustain it, with direct relevance to South Africa's extraordinary natural heritage — the Cape Floristic Region alone is recognised as one of the world's six floral kingdoms. Students choose a focal area from Climate Change Ecology, Plant and Animal Biodiversity, or Plants and Microbes, and develop skills in field ecology, taxonomic identification, ecological modelling, and conservation science. The programme prepares graduates to work on some of South Africa's most pressing environmental challenges, from biodiversity loss and habitat fragmentation to invasive species management and climate adaptation.
