The Diploma in Ornamental Horticulture at the University of South Africa (Unisa) is a three-year open distance learning qualification that trains students in the science and practice of growing, managing, and designing with ornamental plants across South Africa's diverse horticultural landscape. Students develop expertise in plant propagation, cultivation, landscape design, pest and disease management, and horticultural business operations — preparing them for careers in the green industry across nurseries, parks, golf courses, and landscape services. Admission requirements: National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Diploma endorsement and at least 50% in the language of teaching and learning, at least 50% in Mathematics, and at least 40% in one of Physical Science, Life Sciences, or Agricultural Science, or an appropriate Higher Certificate in Life and Environmental Sciences.
