Details

The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University of Pretoria is a three-year degree in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences that provides a rigorous education in the fundamental science of matter, its properties, reactions, and transformations. Students develop deep knowledge across organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry — equipping them for careers in research, mining chemicals, pharmaceuticals, environmental analysis, and materials science. Chemistry is foundational to South Africa's chemical industry, mining sector, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and environmental monitoring. The programme develops problem-solving scientists who combine theoretical understanding with practical laboratory skills, and who can contribute to the innovation needed to address South Africa's industrial and environmental challenges.
