Details

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Statistics at the University of Pretoria is a three-year degree in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences that provides rigorous training in statistical theory, probability, mathematical modelling, and data analysis. Students develop deep mathematical and statistical competencies including inference, regression, time series analysis, multivariate methods, and stochastic processes — skills applicable to every field that relies on data for decision-making. Statistical skills are in exceptional demand across South Africa's financial services, insurance, pharmaceutical, research, and government sectors. UP's Mathematical Statistics programme produces graduates who are highly numerate, analytically rigorous, and equipped for both applied statistical roles and postgraduate study leading to actuarial or statistical research careers.

Admission requirements: English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 5 (60-69%); Mathematics: Level 6 (70-79%); APS: 34 (excluding Life Orientation).
