The Bachelor of Drama (Extended Programme) at the University of Pretoria is a four-year degree that includes a foundation year providing additional academic and creative support before students join the mainstream three-year Drama programme. The extended programme is designed for students who show creative potential but require additional preparation in academic literacy, performance fundamentals, and drama theory before engaging with the full programme. South Africa's dramatic arts are embedded in the country's social, political, and cultural life, and the extended programme ensures talented students from under-resourced communities have access to professional drama education at one of South Africa's leading arts faculties. Graduates of the extended programme follow the same career pathways as the standard BA Drama.
