The Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at NWU is a three-year degree that explores living systems at molecular, cellular, organism, and ecological levels. Students select two complementary biological disciplines from botany, zoology, microbiology, biochemistry, and physiology, developing an integrated understanding of life sciences relevant to South Africa's extraordinary biodiversity, agricultural sector, and public health priorities. Offered at the Mahikeng and Potchefstroom campuses, the programme provides access to field-rich environments, research-active laboratories, and strong academic mentorship. Graduates are prepared for postgraduate study in the health sciences, environmental management, or biotechnology, as well as careers in research, conservation, and the biological industries in South Africa.
