The Diploma in Fine and Applied Arts at TUT develops practising artists in glass, ceramics, fibre, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and installation art, with a strong emphasis on professional studio practice. Students learn to conceptualise, produce, and present original artwork while engaging with South African artistic traditions, contemporary trends, and the public gallery sector. The programme prepares graduates to work independently as artists, join design studios, contribute to community arts projects, or pursue careers in museum and gallery management. Cooperative education links students with galleries, cultural institutions, and the broader creative economy.
