The Bachelor of Diagnostic Radiography prepares students to use medical imaging technologies such as X-ray, fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT), and mammography to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injury. The programme covers radiographic positioning, radiation physics, pathology, patient care, and medical ethics within the South African healthcare context. Graduates are required to register with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) under the category of Radiography and Clinical Imaging Sciences.
A minimum admission point of 4 is required in each of the following subjects:
- Mathematics
- Physical Sciences
- Life Sciences
- English
Total minimum admission point score: 16
Remaining subjects:
- Life Orientation: Level 3
- Other subjects: Level 6
Duration: Minimum 4 years | Maximum 6 years
Clinical training is conducted at accredited hospitals in Gauteng, Limpopo, and North West provinces.
