The Bachelor of Arts in Criminal and Community Justice at UJ is a three-year degree that examines the intersection of crime, law, society, and community development in South Africa. Students explore criminological theory, the criminal justice system, victimology, restorative justice, and community-based approaches to crime prevention — all within the specific social and historical context of post-apartheid South Africa.
With South Africa's ongoing challenges around safety, crime prevention, and criminal justice reform, this degree prepares graduates to work in probation services, correctional services, victim support organisations, community safety initiatives, and non-governmental organisations focused on justice and rehabilitation.
Admission requires a minimum APS of 26 (excluding Life Orientation) and at least 60% in English. NCV applicants are not considered for this programme. Selection is based on academic merit.
