2026 Ampath Phlebotomy Technician Funded Learnership

Overview/Details

The Ampath Phlebotomy Technician Learnership is a 24-month, HPCSA-accredited program starting in January 2026. It blends online classes with practical clinical training at Ampath Care Centers in Centurion and Westridge (Durban). Successful completion qualifies learners to register with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as phlebotomy technicians.

This youth development initiative provides in-demand skills in blood collection, lab procedures, and patient interaction, leading to a recognized healthcare qualification and strong career prospects.

Requirements

  • Age: Must be under 35 years
  • Education:
    • Matric certificate with a minimum of 50% in:
      • Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
      • Life Sciences/Biology
      • English
    • Current Grade 12 learners may apply using Grade 11 results
  • Citizenship: South African citizens only
  • Qualification Level: Not above NQF Level 4
  • Technical Needs: Access to a smartphone or device with internet connectivity for online learning

  • Valid Visa (if not a South African citizen)—for privately funded applicants
