The Student Laboratory Assistant Programme is an entry-level initiative designed for school leavers interested in laboratory training. The programme offers theoretical instruction at the PathCare Academy in Goodwood, Cape Town, and practical experience at various PathCare laboratories across South Africa. Successful completion enables candidates to write the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) Board Examination, a prerequisite for registration as a Laboratory Assistant.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 pass with Biology/Life Science ≥40% or NCV Primary Health with Human Body and Mind ≥60%
  • Proficiency in English (read, write, and speak fluently)
  • Basic understanding of Afrikaans
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Capacity to work under pressure and commit to rigorous study
