Krutham, committed to aiding students nearing the end of their degrees and recent graduates in their transition from university to the professional world, introduces its Internship Programme. As part of their recruitment process, Krutham runs an annual graduate programme, offering selected applicants short-term contracts to gain valuable experience at Intellidex. While there is no guarantee of a longer-term position beyond the internship, historically, Intellidex has often recruited from its pool of interns. The programme extends both paid and unpaid internships, with locations including Sandton, London, and Boston. The number of appointments may vary from year to year, depending on the applications received and the prevailing business needs.

Internship Opportunities

Krutham seeks to place interns in various positions, offering either three-month or six-month contracts. These internships cater to recent graduates taking their initial steps into their careers. A modest monthly stipend is provided. When applying, please indicate your availability.

  1. Financial Markets & Economics: Interns in this role work on macroeconomic analysis, equities analysis, and fixed income analysis. They assist in financial markets research, utilizing software like Stata and Excel, and accessing financial databases such as Iress, Bloomberg, and Infront. This experience includes working on client reports and gaining insights into key institutions in the South African financial markets. Ideal candidates are recent graduates in economics, statistics, or finance.
  2. Financial Journalism: Interns in this role focus on producing content and conducting interviews. Intellidex frequently produces publications based on its research, often in collaboration with major media outlets. Applicants with degrees in journalism, media studies, or finance-related fields are encouraged to apply.
  3. Social Science: Interns working in social science engage in survey research and data analysis connected to market research projects. Intellidex conducts a wide range of market research, typically related to financial services. This internship offers exposure to various facets of the financial services industry and hands-on experience in data gathering and survey analysis. Applicants with degrees in sociology, politics, psychology, marketing, economics, or related subjects requiring advanced primary research skills are welcome.

Application Deadline and Guidance

Krutham typically considers applications in early November each year, with work commencing in January. However, applications may be accepted at other times of the year, depending on business needs. Shortlisted applicants will undergo interviews.

Applicants are encouraged to showcase their originality and creativity as problem solvers. The application should include a covering letter demonstrating the ability and willingness to solve complex research-related problems. Additionally, provide a CV and three writing samples, of which two should be academic writing exemplifying primary research capabilities.

For placements in Sandton, applicants must have the legal right to work in South Africa. For placements in London or Boston, applicants must be legally entitled to work in those respective cities.
