The Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning at UJ develops planning professionals with the skills to shape South Africa's cities, towns, and regions in ways that promote spatial justice, economic development, and environmental sustainability. Students engage with land use planning, urban design, GIS, planning law, transport planning, housing policy, and community participation — equipping graduates to work in municipalities, provincial planning departments, environmental consultancies, and development organisations. Urban planning is a regulated profession in South Africa; graduates can register with the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN).
