PAMSA invites applications for its Master’s in Chemical Engineering bursary, supporting innovative, sustainability-driven research in pulp, paper, and bio-based industries. This two-year programme funds full-time Master’s studies while enabling students to work on cutting-edge research in waste beneficiation and circular bioeconomy innovation. It also opens pathways to employment with PAMSA member companies.

Bursary Coverage:

  • Total funding: R320,000 over two years
  • Covers tuition and research costs

Research Areas Include:

  • Waste valorisation and process innovation
  • Energy and water efficiency
  • Bioethanol and bioproducts from paper sludge
  • Lignin extraction and applications in asphalt, fertilisers, water purification

Participating Universities:

Requirements

  • Final-year or recent BSc/BEng (Chemical Engineering) graduates
  • Minimum 60% average in final year
  • Studies must be completed within five years or fewer
  • Must be from a registered South African university
  • South African citizenship preferred
  • Required documents: CV, academic transcripts (each year), motivation letter, and reference letters
