SANSA offers postgraduate bursaries for students pursuing Honours, Masters, and Doctoral degrees in STEM fields including remote sensing, environmental science, engineering, mathematics, and space science. This funding supports South Africa’s National Development Plan by developing scarce scientific and technical skills.

The bursary targets students in applied remote sensing, GIS, environmental management, computer engineering, electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, and related disciplines. Successful applicants receive financial support to complete postgraduate qualifications that address national skills shortages.

Requirements

  • Be 32 years or younger at time of application
  • Achieve minimum 65% academic average in last year of study or final examination
  • Enroll in Honours, Masters, or Doctoral programme in eligible STEM field: Applied Remote Sensing, GIS, Environmental Science, Ecology, Geography, Geoinformatics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Space Science, or Energy Studies
  • Be South African citizen or permanent resident
