The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) invites South African students to apply for the 2026/7 Technical Bursary Scheme. The bursary supports undergraduate and diploma studies in technical fields aimed at strengthening municipal infrastructure planning, delivery, operations and maintenance across South Africa. Preference will be given to students from rural areas and households earning less than R600 000 per annum.

Fields of Study Covered:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Project and Construction Management / Studies
  • Urban and Regional Planning / Town and Regional Planning
  • Environmental Management

Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Have completed Matric (Grade 12)
  • Be studying or intending to study in one of the listed fields
  • Have a combined annual household income of less than R600 000
  • Provide proof of registration (if already enrolled)

Preference will be given to:

  • Applicants from rural areas
  • Youth from previously disadvantaged communities
  • Applicants with disabilities

Documents Required:

  • Certified copy of South African ID
  • Certified copy of Matric certificate
  • Certified copy of latest academic record (if currently studying)
  • Certified copy of last year’s results (continuing students)
  • Proof of registration (institution letterhead)
  • Proof of residence and enrolment form (if applicable)
  • Proof of household income (affidavit and/or payslips)
  • Financial record/statement of account from institution
