Overview/Details

The CETA Thapelo Madibeng Bursary Scheme invites unemployed South African students to apply for financial assistance to pursue built environment qualifications at public institutions of higher learning in South Africa.

What the Bursary Covers:

  1. Tuition fees
  2. Prescribed textbooks
  3. Accommodation and meals
  4. Transport fees (with conditions)
  5. Research allowance (only for Master’s and PhD students)

Requirements

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be currently unemployed
  • Intending to pursue a built-environment qualification at a public South African institution
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of 50%
  • Total household income must be less than R600 000 per annum

Required Documents:

  • Certified copy of ID
  • Matric certificate or statement of results (first-year applicants)
  • Latest tertiary academic record (returning students)
  • Proof of acceptance from the tertiary institution
  • Certified parent(s)/guardian(s) ID
  • Proof of parent(s)/guardian(s) income (latest payslip, affidavit if unemployed)
  • Affidavit of unemployment (applicant)

Important Notes:

  • Only for the 2026 academic year
  • Only for students at public institutions in South Africa
  • All documents must be clear and fully attached
  • Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted
