The Transport Education Training Authority (TETA) invites applications from unemployed learners for the 2026 academic year bursary programme. The bursary is targeted at:

  • Current Grade 12 learners or matriculants intending to study in 2026
  • Currently enrolled students needing 2026 funding
  • Aviation students with valid SPL, PPL, or CPL
  • Commercial divers with a Senior Certificate (matric)

The bursary supports studies at public or accredited private universities, universities of technology, TVET colleges, as well as accredited aviation and diving schools.

Requirements

  • Must be a South African citizen or permanent resident
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must be studying or intending to study a qualification aligned with TETA’s funded list (see below)
  • Must apply online and include all required documentation

Includes but is not limited to:

  • Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Marine)
  • Financial and Business Management
  • Logistics, Transport and Supply Chain Management
  • Maritime, Nautical and Maritime Law
  • Health, Safety and Environmental Studies
  • ICT, Cybersecurity, Data Science, AI, Robotics, Cloud Computing
  • Aviation (Private and Commercial Pilot Licenses, Instructor & Instrument Ratings)
  • Postgraduate degrees including Master’s and PhD in transport-relevant research areas
