The South African Road Federation offers bursaries for further education or training in disciplines applicable to the road transport sector. These bursaries aim to supplement the student’s other finances, focusing primarily on students pursuing studies relevant to the South African road transport industry. Bursaries are available for full-time, part-time, or distance learning and can support undergraduate (from second year) and postgraduate studies.

 

Requirements

  • The study must be at an approved South African university or equivalent institution.
  • National Diploma students must have passed their first semester, and Degree students must have passed their first year.
  • Preference is for advanced-level studies (M.Sc., M.Tech., etc.), but undergraduates may apply in special cases.
  • Academic endorsement from the institution is required.
  • South African residents preferred; SADC citizens may apply.
  • Preference to employees of SARF member organizations.
  • Applicants must intend to work within the South African road transport industry.
  • Applicants must become associate SARF members (R730 annual fee).
  • Six-monthly study progress reports are required.
  • Bursars must present on their study topic to a local SARF branch.
