Sanlam is offering actuarial bursaries for the 2026 academic year to current and prospective students pursuing Actuarial Science. The programme supports academically strong students by providing financial assistance, mentorship, and guaranteed employment after graduation. Bursaries are awarded on merit and aligned with Sanlam’s employment equity goals.

Requirements

For current university students (1st, 2nd, or 3rd year):

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Enrolled full-time in Actuarial Science
  • Demonstrated academic excellence
  • Strong motivation and leadership potential

For learners intending to study Actuarial Science in 2026:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Grade 11 final results (2024) and Grade 12 mid-year results (2025) required
  • Minimum 90% for Mathematics and overall A average
  • NBT results (if available)
  • Final Matric results may be used to determine award
  • Strong extra-mural, academic, and leadership record

Required Documents:

For university students:

  • Full academic transcripts
  • Proof of registration or fee statement
  • Certified copy of Matric certificate
  • Certified copy of South African ID
  • CV with academic, leadership, and extracurricular details
  • Motivational letter answering:
    • What does an actuary do?
    • Why Actuarial Science?
    • What makes you suitable?
    • Why should Sanlam choose you?
    • Backup career plan if not successful as an actuary

For Grade 12 learners:

  • Final 2024 Grade 11 results
  • Mid-year 2025 Grade 12 results
  • Final Matric results (if available)
  • NBT results (if available)
  • Same CV and motivation letter as above
