The MQA Bursary Scheme supports South African students pursuing qualifications aligned with the mining and minerals sector. For the 2026 academic year, 430 bursaries are available for unemployed learners and individuals employed in the mining sector. The bursary covers full tuition, registration fees, residence or private accommodation, books, meals, and allowances.
The scheme focuses on qualifications critical to the sector and promotes transformation by prioritizing historically disadvantaged individuals, female candidates, people with disabilities, rural applicants, and those in financial need.
Note: 20% of bursaries may be allocated to qualifications outside this list at MQA’s discretion.
