Established in 2014, the Monocle Foundation is a philanthropic educational trust aiming to offer tertiary-level scholarships to previously disadvantaged Black females in South Africa. The bursary covers tuition fees, accommodation, a laptop, book/study-material allowance, subsistence allowance, career counselling and a free Microsoft Office course.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be Black females with limited to no funding.
  • South African students in their second year of study or higher.
  • Accepted courses include (but are not limited to): Accounting, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Medicine.
  • Letter addressed to the Trustees including: applicant’s background, field of study, career ambitions, motivation for bursary.
  • Latest CV.
  • Certified copy of South African ID.
  • Copy of academic record (up to date; university stamped) and grade 12 certificate.
  • For graduates: copy of degree.
  • Breakdown of funds required, including tuition, study support/books, accommodation and subsistence allowance.
