The Compensation Fund External Bursary Scheme provides full bursary support to unemployed COID (Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases) beneficiaries with permanent disabilities, as well as their dependents and the dependents of fatally injured workers. The bursary promotes reintegration into the workforce or self-employment through access to formal education and vocational training.

Bursary Covers:

  • Full tuition fees
  • Prescribed study materials
  • Monthly stipend
  • Accommodation (if applicable)
  • Renewable annually based on academic performance and fund availability

Requirements

  • Must be an unemployed COID beneficiary with a permanent disability, or
  • A dependent of a COID beneficiary with a permanent disability, or
  • A dependent of a fatally injured employee (age range: 17–35 years)
  • Must be accepted at a public institution: TVET College, CET College, or Higher Education Institution (HEI)
  • Must study full-time (students with disabilities may apply for part-time studies in exceptional cases)
  • Must submit:
    • Completed application form
    • COID pension or claim number
    • Certified copy of applicant’s ID
    • Certified copies of parent(s)/guardian(s)’ ID or death certificate (for dependents)
    • Proof of acceptance at a public PSET institution
    • Disability verification by a health care professional or disability office (WCL/final medical report)
