2025 Rand Refinery Bursary

Overview/Details

Established in 1920, Rand Refinery is the world’s largest integrated single-site precious metals refining and smelting complex. The company offers services across the precious metals value chain, including smelting, evaluation, refining, and recovery of responsibly sourced metals, as well as the fabrication of products for investment and retail clients. For the 2025 academic year, Rand Refinery is offering bursaries to undergraduate students pursuing studies in specific Engineering and Science fields. The bursary covers tuition fees, prescribed books, stationery, a laptop, accommodation, and provides a monthly stipend. Engineering studies receive full funding, while Science studies are capped at R50,000.

Requirements

  • South African citizenship
  • Aged between 18 and 25 years
  • Completed Matric
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate qualification in one of the following fields:
    • Biochemistry
    • Biotechnology
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Environmental
    • Environmental Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Information Technology
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Microbiology
    • Robotics and Advanced Control
  • In 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of study
  • Enrolled at a recognized and accredited South African university or university of technology
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of 70%
