The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSiRA) is a statutory body established to regulate the private security industry in South Africa. As part of its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives, PSiRA offers bursaries to support the education of children or legal dependents of registered and active security officers. For the 2025 academic year, the bursary is available to students pursuing any field of study at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges across South Africa. The programme aims to alleviate financial barriers, providing up to R12,000 per learner for an 18-month qualification, thereby fostering educational advancement within the private security community.

Requirements

  • Applicant and parent must be South African citizens.
  • Applicant must be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Completed Matric (Grade 12).
  • Intending to study full-time towards an 18-month qualification at a TVET college in South Africa.
  • Not receiving funding from any other bursary scheme.
  • Parent must be registered with PSiRA as a security officer and be the legal guardian.
  • Parent must have been actively employed with the same employer for the past three years.
  • Applicant must reside in one of the following regions: Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape, Port Elizabeth, Western Cape.
