The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government is offering bursaries to students residing within the province for the 2025 academic year. The bursary aims to support students pursuing undergraduate qualifications in specific fields of study that are critical to the province’s development. The bursary will cover tuition fees, meals or stipend, accommodation, and prescribed textbooks where necessary. Successful candidates will enter into a bursary contract with the KZN government for the duration of their studies and will be required to serve the relevant department for the same number of years upon completion.

Bursaries are available for the following fields:

  • Department of Human Settlements:

    • Construction Studies / Management
  • Department of Agriculture and Rural Development:

    • Agricultural Engineering (BSc)
    • Industrial Engineering (National Diploma)
    • Veterinary Technology (National Diploma)
    • Veterinary Science (BVSc)
  • Department of Transport:

    • Civil Engineering (BSc)
    • Transport and Logistics (Degree)
    • Transport Economics (Degree)
    • Marine Engineering (BSc)
    • Maritime Studies (Degree)

Requirements

  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Reside within the KwaZulu-Natal province
  • Have completed Matric
  • Be studying or intend to study full-time towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the specified fields in 2025
  • Be accepted or provisionally accepted to study at a recognized public tertiary institution in South Africa
  • Preference will be given to students who will pursue studies within the KwaZulu-Natal province
  • Youth with disabilities are encouraged to apply
