North West Provincial Government (NWPG)

The North West Provincial Government is one of South Africa’s nine provincial governments, established after the democratic elections of 1994. The province was formed from parts of the former Bophuthatswana homeland and sections of the old Transvaal province, and it borders Botswana to the north and west, making it one of South Africa’s key cross-border trade corridors.

The province is governed by the Office of the Premier, which coordinates the work of all provincial departments and drives the implementation of government policy at a provincial level. Its economy is anchored by mining, particularly platinum group metals, with the Bushveld Igneous Complex running through the province and making it one of the richest platinum-bearing geological formations in the world. Agriculture, tourism, and manufacturing also play significant roles in the provincial economy.
