The Bachelor of Health Sciences in Veterinary Technology at TUT (Arcadia Campus) trains students to assist veterinarians in clinical care, diagnostic laboratory work, and research. Veterinary Technologists are registered with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) and work across companion animal clinics, game capture operations, state veterinary services, vaccine production facilities, and research institutions. The programme covers diagnostic techniques, sample processing, surgical assistance, and animal health management across a diverse range of species.

Game Capture Technologist – Assisting wildlife vets in immobilisation, health assessment, and translocation of wild animals on game reserves.
Research Laboratory Technician – Supporting animal disease research at the Onderstepoort Veterinary Institute and agricultural research councils.
State Veterinary Assistant – Supporting state veterinary services in disease surveillance, import/export control, and animal welfare enforcement.
