The Bachelor of Child and Youth Care at DUT is a four-year professional degree that equips graduates to work with children and youth in residential care, community, school, and therapeutic environments across South Africa. The programme develops skills in holistic care, behaviour management, developmental assessment, therapeutic relationship building, and community engagement — preparing graduates to work alongside psychologists, social workers, and educators in multidisciplinary teams. With South Africa's significant challenges around at-risk youth, child protection, and youth development, qualified child and youth care workers are in high demand.
