The LLB at Nelson Mandela University is a four-year professional law degree required for admission to the South African legal profession. Students study the full spectrum of South African law including constitutional law, criminal law, contract law, property law, family law, company law, and procedure, developing the legal reasoning and advocacy skills essential for practice. The NMU Law Faculty has a strong commitment to social justice and access to justice, reflected in its clinical legal education programme and community law service, which give students practical experience while serving Eastern Cape communities. English proficiency requirements are high given the language demands of the legal profession.
