The Higher Certificate in Music provides foundational knowledge and practical skills in music theory, performance, and musicianship. It is designed as an entry-level higher education qualification for students who wish to pursue further studies in music or enter the music industry. The programme equips students with core competencies in areas such as aural training, music history, and instrumental or vocal performance.

- In the main instrument (or in singing) at least a practical standard in classical music equivalent to the Grade V/VI examination and theoretical knowledge equivalent to any of the examining bodies’ Grade III/IV theory examination.
