The Valterra Platinum Community Bursary Programme offers full-time bursaries to students from Valterra Platinum host communities who face socio-economic challenges. The bursary supports undergraduate studies at accredited institutions and is aimed at empowering youth through access to higher education in South Africa. Selection is on a first-come, first-served basis, and renewal is subject to academic performance.

Bursary Covers:

  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation
  • Allowance (final amount subject to trustee approval)

Exclusions:

  • Children of Valterra employees are not eligible
  • No employment guarantee post-graduation

Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens
  • Be between 18 and 25 years old as of the closing date
  • Have matriculated in 2024 or 2025
  • Be enrolled or accepted into their first undergraduate programme (NQF Level 6 or 7)
  • Be studying a three-year full-time qualification ending no later than December 2028
  • Reside in or have attended school in one of Valterra’s host communities, which include:
    • Amandelbult Mine
    • Mogalakwena Mine
    • Mototolo Mine
    • Polokwane Smelter
    • Rustenburg Processing and Smelting (Mortimer, CP, BMR, PMR, Waterval Smelter)
    • Twickenham Project

Priority Groups:

  • Orphans and vulnerable children
  • Child-headed households
  • Unemployed households
