The Bachelor of Arts with Specialisation in Development Studies at UJ equips students with the theoretical and practical tools to understand and address poverty, inequality, and underdevelopment in the South African and global context. Students engage with development economics, social policy, political economy, and community-based research — preparing them for careers in government departments, international development organisations, NGOs, and research institutions working on South Africa's most pressing socioeconomic challenges.
