The Bachelor of Social Work at UJ is a four-year professional degree that prepares graduates to register with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as social workers. Students develop knowledge and applied skills in social welfare, community development, case management, group work, social policy, and research — equipping them to work with vulnerable individuals, families, and communities across South Africa's child protection, elderly care, disability, and substance abuse service sectors. Social work is a regulated profession in South Africa, and registration with SACSSP is required for practice.
