The purpose of this qualification is to equip learners with the required disciplinary knowledge and practical skills relevant to adopting a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to environmental management. The qualification aims to prepare learners to address the moral and practical complexities of environmental decision making in South Africa and other parts of the world strategically. More emphasis will be on environmental legislation and policies, while the introduction of Green Economics into the curriculum to align with the national system of incorporating an environmental driver into the National Skills Development Strategy. The environment is, therefore seen as an economic driver through the creation of green businesses and jobs. This qualification addresses the requirements and needs of a broad spectrum of job opportunities in the fields of environmental health and management.
