The Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching at Sol Plaatje University prepares students to become skilled, caring, and professionally qualified teachers for Grade R to Grade 3 learners. The programme equips graduates with deep knowledge of literacy, numeracy, and life skills development in the critical early years of schooling, with particular emphasis on multilingual teaching methods suited to the linguistic diversity of the Northern Cape and South Africa broadly. SPU's Foundation Phase programme responds directly to national imperatives around early childhood education quality and the chronic shortage of qualified foundation phase teachers.
