This qualification develops visual artists with the intellectual and practical competencies to produce, contextualise, and exhibit original artwork. Students engage with painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and installation art — developing a personal artistic voice informed by South African cultural history, contemporary art theory, and global art practice. Graduates contribute to South Africa's vibrant arts economy through galleries, public art, education, and arts administration.
