The Bachelor of Commerce in Chartered Accountancy at NWU is a three-year accredited degree offered across all three campuses, providing the academic foundation required to pursue the Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) designation — the most prestigious accounting qualification in South Africa. Students study financial accounting, management accounting, taxation, auditing, and commercial law at a rigorous level, meeting the academic requirements set by SAICA. South Africa faces a critical shortage of chartered accountants, particularly black CAs, making this one of the most strategically important professional training programmes in the country. Students typically proceed to the SAICA-accredited Honours (CTA) and then SAICA's board exams to qualify as a CA(SA).

Chief Financial Officer – Lead financial strategy, reporting, and governance for South African corporates or public entities after qualifying as a CA(SA) and gaining executive experience.
Financial Director – Oversee financial operations, investor relations, and regulatory compliance for a South African business, bringing the highest level of financial expertise.
Tax Consultant – Advise South African businesses and high-net-worth individuals on tax planning, SARS dispute resolution, and international tax structures at specialised advisory firms.
