The BTh with Bible Languages and Bible Translation at NWU is a three-year contact degree at the Potchefstroom campus that combines training in Biblical Hebrew and Greek with the theory and practice of Bible translation. Students develop skills in linguistic analysis, translation methodology, and exegesis, with a focus on producing accurate, culturally accessible translations for South Africa's 11 official languages and the broader African continent's hundreds of language communities. South Africa remains a hub for Bible translation work through organisations like the South African Bible Society, and the programme equips graduates to contribute to this vital task. It also serves as preparation for postgraduate research in biblical studies and translation science.
