The Bachelor of Divinity (BDiv) at NWU is a four-year degree offered at the Potchefstroom campus and via distance learning, developed in consultation with the curators of the Reformed Churches of South Africa, the Hervormde Kerk, and the Dutch Reformed Church. It provides a comprehensive theological education covering Old and New Testament studies, systematic theology, church history, practical theology, and missiology, preparing candidates for ordained ministry within Reformed church traditions. South Africa's rich and diverse faith landscape — encompassing Reformed, charismatic, African Independent, and mainline denominations — creates ongoing demand for well-trained, contextually aware theological graduates. Distance learning makes the degree accessible to students from across the country and the broader African continent.

Ordained Minister – Serve a Reformed congregation in South Africa as a preacher, teacher, and pastoral carer after completing candidacy and ordination requirements through the relevant denomination.
Church Planter – Establish and grow new congregations in South African urban, township, or rural communities as part of missional church development programmes.
Theological Educator – Teach at South African Bible colleges, theological seminaries, or faith-based schools as a trained and qualified theological scholar.
Chaplain – Serve in a chaplaincy role at South African universities, hospitals, prisons, or military units affiliated with Reformed or mainline denominational structures.
Missioner – Lead cross-cultural mission initiatives in South Africa or across the African continent, working with international and local mission organisations to plant churches and serve communities.
