Overview/Details

The Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust (CRET) bursary programme offers comprehensive financial support for South African students pursuing tertiary education. Established in 2000, the programme focuses on assisting disadvantaged youth by providing funding for tuition fees, textbooks, study materials, accommodation, meals, a monthly living allowance, and transport where necessary. The bursary not only covers educational expenses but also extends holistic support, including psychosocial and secondary skills development.

CRET prioritizes building strong relationships with its beneficiaries and ensures they are equipped with the tools and skills needed to thrive academically and professionally. The bursary is open to students enrolled or planning to enroll in recognised South African universities, TVET colleges, or other learning institutions, with a focus on fields such as Sciences (excluding MBChB), Technology, Engineering, Commerce and Finance, Education, and various scarce skills training areas.

Since its inception, CRET has helped over 230 students graduate and supported over 380 young individuals through skills development initiatives such as drone pilot training, firefighting, and coding. This commitment to a holistic approach underscores CRET’s mission to empower youth through education and skills development.
