Details

The Bachelor of Town and Regional Planning at the University of Pretoria is a four-year professional degree that trains graduates to plan and manage the development of cities, towns, and regions — balancing economic growth, social equity, environmental sustainability, and cultural heritage. Students develop expertise in urban design, land use planning, spatial analysis, environmental management, planning law, and development economics, preparing them to shape South Africa's spatial transformation and address the legacy of apartheid urban planning. The programme is accredited by the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN), enabling graduates to register as Professional Planners. South Africa's ongoing urbanisation, infrastructure investment, and spatial justice imperatives create strong demand for qualified planners across local and provincial government, consulting, and the private sector.

Admission requirements: English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 5 (60-69%); Mathematics: Level 4 (50-59%); APS: 27 (excluding Life Orientation).
