Earlier today, many of you tried to log into the UniApplyForMe app and couldn't. We know how frustrating that must have been, especially for learners in the middle of researching universities, tracking applications, or checking bursary deadlines. We are truly sorry.
Here is what happened, and what we have done about it.
What went wrong
While performing routine infrastructure improvements, a configuration issue caused our systems to begin generating errors at a very high rate. These errors were not visible to users directly, but they put significant strain on our platform, which caused login and session features to fail.
The issue has been fully resolved. All services are operating normally.
How long were users affected
The disruption ran from approximately 1:00 PM to 4:45 PM SAST on Sunday 7 June 2026. If you were unable to sign in or experienced unusual app behaviour during that window, that was the cause. No user data was lost or compromised at any point.
What we have done
We identified the root cause and deployed a fix by 4:45 PM SAST. We also took the opportunity to apply a broader set of performance improvements to the platform, which should make the app faster and more stable going forward.

Behind every one of those signups is a learner trying to figure out where they belong in South Africa's university system, a matric student calculating their APS score at midnight, a young person who deserves every advantage they can get when applying for bursaries.
You chose us during one of the most important seasons of your academic lives. We do not take that trust for granted, and we are deeply sorry that we let you down today, even briefly.
What comes next
We are continuing to invest in the stability and performance of our platform. Today's improvements are part of that commitment, and we will keep working to make sure the app is there for you every time you need it.
