The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) External Bursary Scheme is open for the 2027 academic year, offering full financial support to South African students pursuing undergraduate qualifications in Finance, Management, STEM, Law, and selected postgraduate (Honours) programmes at public universities.
The bursary covers full tuition fees, university or accredited off-campus accommodation, a once-off laptop, a meal allowance, and a transport allowance.
Preference is given to applicants from Quintile 1, 2, and 3 schools, rural and previously disadvantaged communities, and applicants living with a disability. The programme targets students from households with a combined annual income of up to R350 000, though applicants from households earning between R350 000 and R600 000 per year may also be considered subject to an affordability assessment.
The information provided on this page is for general guidance only and may be subject to change. We recommend verifying details directly with the bursary provider. Funding is not guaranteed, and eligibility does not ensure an award.
