The Bachelor of Medicine in Clinical Practice at Walter Sisulu University is a three-year degree at the Mthatha campus that trains competent, professional Clinical Associates (CAs) to function effectively as healthcare team members assisting district hospital doctors with a defined scope of clinical procedures under their supervision. Clinical Associates were introduced to South Africa's health system specifically to address the acute shortage of doctors in district hospitals, particularly in underserved rural provinces like the Eastern Cape.
