The BSc Biological Sciences Extended Curriculum at Nelson Mandela University is a four-year programme providing an extended academic pathway for students who demonstrate potential in the biological sciences but require additional preparation in mathematics and science. The foundational year builds quantitative reasoning and scientific literacy before students progress into zoology, botany, ecology, and related disciplines. Graduates are prepared for roles in conservation, environmental monitoring, and science education across South Africa.
