The Bachelor of Arts in Audiology at the University of Pretoria is a four-year professional degree in the Faculty of Humanities that qualifies graduates to practise as audiologists, registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Audiologists assess and manage hearing loss, balance disorders, tinnitus, and auditory processing difficulties across all age groups — from newborn hearing screening to hearing rehabilitation for the elderly. South Africa has one of the highest rates of noise-induced hearing loss in the world due to its mining industry, making audiologists critical to occupational health. Students receive clinical training in UP's audiology clinics and affiliated hospitals, developing competence in diagnostic audiology, hearing aid fitting, and cochlear implant programming.
Admission requirements: English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 5 (60-69%); Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy: Level 4 (50-59%); APS: 32 (excluding Life Orientation).
